The Mayor of Malaga meets European Business and Innovation Centres Network (EBN) Board Members

Francisco de la Torre learns about the role played by the European Business and Innovation Centres (BIC) in the startup and growth of innovative enterprises.
The Mayor of Malaga, Mr Francisco de la Torre Prados, meet the EBN Board Members, a network that brings together more than 250 European Community Business and Innovation Centres (EC BIC), chaired by Álvaro Simón de Blas, CEO of Malaga’s EC BIC, BIC Euronova.
More than fifteen delegates from other European BICs coming from Holland, Italy, Slovenia, Finland, Greece, Poland, Ireland, UK, Belgium, and Czech Republic, amongst others, have visited Spain to hold the Board of Directors meeting as well as another meeting with the Mayor of Málaga.
During the meeting with the Mayor of Malaga, EBN was represented by its President, Álvaro Simón de Blas, along with the network’s CEO, Philippe Vanrie. Álvaro Simón was also in charge of the european BIC members’ welcome and induction speech where he remarked the key role of the EC BICs in the startup and growth of innovative enterprises with the EBN support and their 25 years of experience.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Málaga along with Mario Cortés, Councillor for New Technologies, Innovation, and Security learned about the incubators system in Europe. Also, Francisco de la Torre especially remarked the multiple advantages offered by Malaga to the business world. He highlighted as well the importance of the launch of the innovation ecosystem and the acknowledgement received in 2011 that rates Malaga as a Smart City through the Malaga Valley firm in order for the city to become an international referent.
Ultimately, Philippe Vanrie, EBN CEO, and other directors from European BICs presented their experiences and showcased the work done by the EC BIC in order for their companies to fully commit to innovation and internationalisation as the key for success.
