BIC Euronova, the European Business and Innovation Centre in Malaga (BIC), together with the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), has successfully closed the second edition of the Cybersecurity Ventures acceleration programme, aimed at boosting innovation and digital security.
The Malaga start-up MetaMedics has been named the winner of the programme and will continue its training in Silicon Valley at Draper University, a prize managed by BIC Euronova and valued at US$12,000.
A new call will soon open under the same initiative: the five-week CyberEmprende incubation programme, which is seeking 20 entrepreneurs.

BIC Euronova, the European Business and Innovation Centre in Malaga (BIC), in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), —an entity under the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service, through the State Secretariat for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures—has successfully closed the second edition of the ambitious Cybersecurity Ventures acceleration programme to support start-ups and innovative SMEs, following the success of the first edition held at BIC Euronova at the end of 2024.
The initiative aims to promote the creation of new companies through an acceleration programme and to enhance their innovative activity, while strengthening cybersecurity among Spain’s population and market.
The MetaMedics project—experts in health training with immersive technologies—won this edition and will continue shaping its business model at Draper University in Silicon Valley, California. The team will travel at the end of October to participate in a five-week acceleration programme valued at US$12,000, managed by BIC Euronova. In addition to the winning project, Thalassa Systems and Deja VuAI Inc. were finalists in second and third place, respectively. The Iwanit project also received a special mention from the jury.
The programme, combining training and mentoring, began in June and ran for 10 weeks, with sessions delivered by a team of highly qualified mentors. In addition, the start-ups received hours of one-to-one consulting on legal/tax and digital marketing matters, as well as guidance from an expert mentor.
Participation requirements stipulated that companies or start-ups must have a link to cybersecurity: either because it is their core business—developing innovative products or services in the field—or because it is key to their activity (e.g. online sales). They must apply cybersecurity to secure digital environments for their customers.
The participating start-ups were: Caltion, Gamys Lab, Hydrobox, AIWA – AI Waiter Agent, Deja VuAI Inc., MetaMedics, Thalassa Systems, Plannet App, Iwanit and One Club.
This programme is part of the INCIBE Emprende initiative, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, with funding from Next GenerationEU funds.
As a collaborating organisation in the programme, BIC Euronova has delivered acceleration programmes, talks, workshops, events and incubation services to the participating companies. This joint effort has enabled participants to benefit from a strong foundation in cybersecurity knowledge, which is crucial for operating safely in today’s digital environment. Spain ranks third worldwide in terms of the share of detected cyber threats (6%), closely behind Japan and Poland.
Boosting entrepreneurs
INCIBE Emprende was launched to boost entrepreneurship in cybersecurity. It is an initiative whose objectives include strengthening the cybersecurity capabilities of citizens, SMEs, and professionals, as well as fostering the sector’s ecosystem.
Between 2024 and 2026, INCIBE will continue to support entrepreneurs and Spanish cybersecurity start-ups throughout the entire pathway, from idea capture to incubation and acceleration. In fact, the Institute has been promoting entrepreneurship in cybersecurity for over seven years, as reflected in its Alumni network—a community that includes some of the most prominent cyber start-ups on the national and international scene.
The initiatives and actions of INCIBE Emprende form part of the National Programme to Promote the Cybersecurity Industry set out in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) under Component 15, Investment 7: Cybersecurity— Strengthening the capacities of citizens, SMEs and professionals and boosting the sector.
