The EBN Annual Policy Conference 2013 deals with how to transform start-ups into international gazelles.

European expertises analysed how to transform start-ups into international gazelles during the annual conference organised by EBN (European Business and Innovation Centre Network), which was held in Brussels last 20th of March.

The chairman of BIC Euronova (BIC of Malaga), Álvaro Simón, as President of the EBN (European BIC Network), welcomed the attendees and declared the view of the EBN in relation to the 2020 business action plan, pointing out the role that the BICs play in the boost to innovation, supporting the creation and development of innovative business with a high growth potential. Likewise, the chairman of the EBN, Philippe Vanrie, together with the President, Álvaro Simón, highlighted the new strategies developed by the BICs as well as the possibilities of collaboration they offer in order to face threats and opportunities as consequence of the structural changes that are globally taking place.

Distinguished expertises representatives of the European Commission, European Parliament, East London University as well as leaders, CEOs and professionals of innovation centres, specialised agencies, technological parks, clusters and BICs throughout all Europe were in attendance. The conference dealt with different topics related to the 2020 business action plan which is being carried out by the European Commission as regards innovation. The possible cooperation with neighbouring markets on emerging, the revitalization of the transatlantic trade area, the UE's potential as well as the possible associations with Russia and Asia were some of the most important topics. The main aim was to encourage the international collaboration in order to increase the competitiveness between European SME's.

Finally, the next Annual EBN Congress was announced. This year, its 22nd occasion will be held in Londonderry (Northern Ireland) at the end of May. The digital, cultural and social innovation will be the main topics of this event.
