The 22nd annual EBN Congress about digital, social and cultural innovation was inaugurated by the President of the European BIC Network (EBN), Álvaro Simón, who is also the chairman of BIC Euronova, the BIC of Malaga.

The 22nd annual EBN Congress was inaugurated the 30th of May 2013 in Derry-Londonderry (Northern Ireland) by the President of the European BIC Network (EBN), Álvaro Simón, who is also the chairman of BIC Euronova, the BIC of Malaga.

The congress was organised by the EBN (European Business and Innovation Centre Network) in collaboration with NORIBIC. The congress was held from 29th to 30th of May and its aim was to address the digital, social and cultural innovation. This congress has been an unavoidable meeting for world leaders in business innovation.

During his opening speech, the President of EBN, Álvaro Simón, reflected on the changes which affect to our economy and industry pointing out the new trends and practices recently carried out in the innovation field. Likewise, he highlighted the added value of this congress where there was an exchange of digital, social and cultural innovation. Exceptional international speakers like Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple), Richard Florida (lecturer in the University of Toronto) or Sir Tim Smit (founder of the Enden project in Cornwall), among many others, were in attendance. All of them "invite you to travel through your imagination, ideas, innovation, internationalization, cooperation and action", according to the EBN President, who was accompanied in the opening by David Harmon, representative of the European Commission for Research, Innovation and Science, and Bernard Toal, CEO of NORIBIC and co-organiser of the event. .

During these days, this event, which showcases the latest and most innovative business practices at international level, offered the members of the European BICS (among them, BIC Euronova), Innovation Centres, Incubators, Accelerators, clusters, businessmen and entrepreneurs from all over the world the possibility of exchanging experiences and ideas about how to encourage creativity in order to promote the digital, social and cultural innovation through our new business models.

In short, Derry Londonderry, the 2013 cultural capital of United Kingdom, has been the perfect scene for this congress which has combined the speech of prestigious speakers with a great variety of cultural and artistic expressions.
