ANCES and EBN, the innovation networks that gather the BICs, meet at TRANSFIERE
ANCES and EBN are networks that support, connect, and coach 27 BICs in Spain and more than 250 in Europe respectively, and whose members have recently participated in the 5th edition of the European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation that took place at the Conference and Exhibition Centre in Malaga (Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga) on the 10th and 11th February.

ANCES and EBN are networks that support, connect, and coach 27 BICs in Spain and more than 250 in Europe respectively, and whose members have recently participated in the 5th edition of the European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation that took place at the Conference and Exhibition Centre in Malaga (Palacio de Ferias y Congresos de Málaga) on the 10th and 11th February.
During that time, the 5th edition of the European forum TRANSFIERE in the city of Malaga has brought together ANCES’ members and members from the european network EBN. Both institutions are chaired by Álvaro Simón de Blas, CEO of BIC Euronova, one of the European Community Business and Innovation Centres (EC BIC -CEEI in its acronym in Spanish) based in Malaga, and both institutions have held meetings with their management bodies where accountability was taken and strategies aiming consolidation and development boosting were drawn.
Concerning ANCES, during the meeting it was especially remarkable the chance of strengthening for this institution by redefining part of the services provided, i.e. the NTBFs (seal of approval for New Technology-Based Firms) or the service provided for boosting private investment, ANCES Investment. Moreover, measures have been taken to implement the BIC framework in other national and international territories.
The main focus during the meeting of the EBN Board Members was the launching of the Strategic Plan 2015-2020 whose major line is the opening of the network to new members in terms of clusters, enterprise accelerators and universities that promote business start up and innovation.
Another key point is that both organisations have reinforced their partnership commitment and have established new joint strategies. For example, a new agreement has been established between ANCES and EBN to bring the activity of the latter closer to Spain. As a pilot scheme for this, a new educational programme is envisaged for all the EBN members in the area of Madrid. The programme, “Setting up a seed-acceleration programme” is expected to take place on the 21st and the 22nd April.
In this innovative environment, the stand provided by these organisations was the meeting point for their representatives as well as for other institutions and companies representatives that have shown their interest and that were able to familiarise themselves with the networks. Their participation in such a relevant Forum has enabled the organisations to establish new partnerships with other organisations and companies from many different fields: investors, other business incubators, service suppliers to other innovative companies in the framework of the EC BICs, Administrative and Public Finances managers, etc.
On the other hand, EBN Board Members were welcomed by the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, and the Councillor for New Technologies and Innovation, Mario Cortés, in a meeting where enterprise accelerator models, the role of EC BICs in the consolidation of innovative companies, and the launch of an innovation ecosystem and of the smart city conceived by the firm Malaga Valley were discussed.
EBN and ANCES, also being members of the Organising Committee for this 5th forum TRANSFIERE organised by Malaga’s Town Hall at the Conference and Exhibition Centre, have both therefore a great chance of taking advantage of the opportunities this event has to offer and they will also have to work on these opportunities to gain new profits for their associates and, especially, for the companies that are also part of the diverse BICs and EC BICs.
