AN APP FROM MALAGA MONITORS THE ELECTIONS’ DEVELOPMENT IN EL SALVADOR
Coordinado por Telefónica El Salvador, durante toda la jornada esta app móvil ha monitorizado las posiciones y las rutas de los operarios contratados por el Gobierno salvadoreño, que se han encargado de llevar los paquetes electorales con los equipos de tecnología a cada centro de votación, y posteriormente, recoger las actas electorales para realizar el recuento. El objetivo del seguimiento de la localización GPS y ruta de de cada operario ha sido garantizar que estas entregas se realizaban correctamente en tiempo y forma.

During the legislative and municipal elections in El Salvador, Central America, that took place last Sunday 4th March, the application Working Day Suite de Internalia Group played a very significant role.
Coordinated by Telefónica El Salvador, this Mobile App has been monitoring during the full day the locations and routes of the workers employed by the Government of El Salvador. They took charge of carrying the electoral packets with the technology equipment to each polling place, and after that they had to pick the official records in order to recount the votes. The main objective of monitoring the GPS location and the routes of each worker was to guarantee that those deliveries were made correctly and in time.
A total of 580 workers and over 1.500 routes have been monitored in real time, guaranteeing by this way that each equipment and each record arrive at it destination without any problem or incident. Furthermore, each worker could report any incidence in real time through simple application forms.
In such a way and for more than 14 hours “the follow-up and monitoring process was developed without any incidences and was a real success”, said Jorge Arturo Alvarado, assistant director of companies and business related to Telefónica El Salvador. He has also managed an equipment of more than ten people in charge of coordinating the position of each worker that took part in the process.
Throughout the polling day, over five millions of citizens from El Salvador went to the polls to renew 84 seats in the Congress and also the mayors from 262 municipalities of the country, for the following three years. In such process there have been over 2.800 domestic and international observers, the European Union included, in order to ensure good progress to this electoral process. The TSE (Supreme Electoral Court) of the country has shown its commitment with the openness and truthfulness of the election results.
The Government of the República de El Salvador hired the services of Telefónica and Internalia Group to ensure a good development and openness of this electoral process, which is so important for the reinforcement of the democracy in this Central American country and which signed its peace agreement in the year 1992.
